They Arrived!

Greer & Anthony made it about 12:30 after driving around the block several times. They overslept & had to rush to make their flight & didn't have time to stop by our house and pick up all the papers (including the address) that I had left for them. Greer knew the name of the street but not the number of the apartment; but, as she had google earthed it, she recognized the corner and knew I'd be looking for them--which I had been doing since about 10:15. I became the go to girl on the corner as several people came up and asked me for directions (luckily, they were all places I knew and could give them directions).  After they unpacked and took showers we set out to wander & give them their first taste of Paris. Roamed the left bank, into Saint Severin & stopped at the Cafe de Petit Cluny for a drink. Then across the Pont au Change & ate dinner at Zimmer. Peter loves the hamburgers there. Anthony & I had pumpkin soup & Greer & I had the steak tartare, prepared in the classic manner & both very good. Peter had the bacon cheeseburger and Greer started with the braised leeks with herbs & Anthony had the Chicken in Diablo sauce with mashed potatoes, which were really amazing- think they might have had a cheese in them but not sure. Peter & I split a Tango Mango for dessert (fresh mango & pineapple with mango & raspberry sorbets & chantilly). Greer had with the Fromage Blanc & we both had a glass of port. The cheese was like yogurt with a crunchy topping & a small jar of honey to pour on top. We let our waiter pick the wine & he chose a nice bottle of Brouilly. Then we walked back past Hotel de Ville, dropped Peter at the apartment & went to the grocery store for Coke Zero & beer. Both Greer & Anthony had tried the Leffe (Belgian beer) & liked it so we wanted a six pack for the apt.  Dropped the groceries off and then went over to Taverne de Cluny so Anthony could hear C Lin K, the three guitarists we liked. Only two of the three were playing but they both really enjoyed them - had a beer there &, on the way home, watched the roller bladers in front of Notre Dame. I think they (Greer & Ant) like Paris!!! To bed at 1:30 and now we're waiting for them to wake up so we can make our plans for today.

  1. Glad to hear you connected and they are enjoying Paris. We are leaving this am for the Alaska Cruise. I will enjoy reading more adventures when we return.
