The rest of the Weekend

Fixed scrambled eggs & lardons for breakfast & then walked to the village St Paul looking for music that didn't exist, but passed the Hotel Sens (built1475-1519) & Hotel de Sully, a 17th C mansion with beautiful gardens. Also saw part of the wall of Louis Phillippe & one of the newest churches in the city with the Cross of Hope by Nicolas Alquin. Walked on to the Bastille & Colonne of Juillet and stopped at Brasserie Francaise for a kir at the Place de la Bastille. Continued on looking for the music jam session that Rene Miller told us about but never found it so we took a taxi back from the Place Leon Blum. Later went down to Au Bougnat on Rue de Columbe for dinner- got lucky, as someone hadn't shown up & we got their reservation. I had the menu (3 course) which started with an amuse bouche of carrot & celery puree with parsley, then tomato veloute with basilic sorbet for the entree. The plat was duck ( slightly overcooked for me) with turnips ( can't remember when I've ever had a turnip in my life) but they were very good, a cross between a beet & a potato in taste. For dessert, creme brulee, which was outstanding. We shared a bottle of Dourthe 2009 Bordeaux/ Cab Merlot blend. Very nice dinner! The restaurant probably seats 30 & was full constantly & was very quaint. The only downside was a group of loud (slightly inebriated) group of 6 next to us. Weather is staying beautiful- warm, not hot, breezy & some clouds.
