Sizzling Again

Sharon & Gary went to the Musee de la Musique today so Peter & I set off for the Rive Gauche. Stopped in at the church of Saint Gervaise-Saint Proteus and then walked over to rue Francois Miron, which was one of the original Roman roads. Then to the church of Saint Merri, built between 1500 & 1550. There was a 13C church on the site & one window still remains from that church along with the oldest bell in Paris from 1331. Then walked through Les Halles & by the Fountain of Innocents where we saw a man asleep in lingerie, garter belt & fish net stockings. Stopped at Chien Qui Fume (The Smoking Dog) for a kir and oysters. The construction at Les Halles is amazing-it's all cordoned off and they are building a huge green area. It looks like it will be really beautiful and will certainly upgrade the area. While at the restaurant, the Sapeurs Pompiers (firemen) arrived and ended up removing a man from the lower floor on a back board. It looked like he broke his arm as it was immobilized. The stairs they had to navigate to get him out were circular and about 14 inches wide. Then they had to lie him down & wait for the ambulance. Walked back over the Pont Neuf and down the Island. Today was hot and humid again, but it's supposed to rain tonight and then be only in the 70s.
