Another Delightful Day in Paris

Slept in late on Saturday-we are all aware that we're not as young as we were the last time we were here. We tend to tire faster, walk slower & have more of those aggravating aches and pains. Went to Brasserie Esmerelda down the street, behind Notre Dame, for a lunch of ham & mushroom pizza & beer. Walked over to the Ile St Louis & watched street performers. Talked to a blues musician Rene Miller (harp & guitar) who gave me his email & told us about places to go for music. He was telling us about another guy who plays like Bix Biederbeck & it turns out he was the guy we watched on Tues night. His name is Bob Miller and he had a group of 2 saxes, a trumper, banjo & bass and they were playing things like Wonderful World, Puttin on the Ritz.  They have a woman named Madeline who was dressed in green from head to toe and dances to the music --and she counts continually as she takes two steps forward and two steps back.  Did some laundry today; it's a single machine that washes and then dries. The machine holds 5k for the washer & 2.5k for the dryer - the wash cycle takes 1 1/2 hours and the dryer 2 hours. Had dinner in the apt - cheese, bread, charcuterie & wine. Then went back to the Latin Quarter to the Taverne de Cluny but they had a different group playing; they were very good but not our style so we moved on & found Lodie's with a piano player & female vocalist. They were very good & did quite a variety (Lennon, Elton John, Sonny & Cher & more). She had a great voice but not much stage personality unless she was singing in French, which wasn't very often. The place itself was lacking in many ways; inefficient staff being number 1. I ordered an Ile Flotant and it was hard to cut the meringue??? I also ordered a Port, which they served in a tall skinny glass with ice cubes. We sat next to a guy who sent his mussels back, didn't eat his fries, & left his entire dessert (which looked like a piece of burned pizza) on the plate - so the presumption is that the food may not be very good. Left there about 1 am, back to the apt & to bed. Weather is beautiful, hot sun, but pleasant in the shade and nice breeze most of the time.
