Sunny Again

Today was warm & sunny again so after our daily boulangerie run & a trip to the grocery store, we walked to the Pont Neuf and took the boat ride on the Seine. Beautiful day for a boat ride and it's a fun way to get an overview of Paris along the Seine. Only problem we had, was sitting behind a family that hasn't yet discovered deoderant. After that walked to the tip of the Island to the Square du vert Galant. Very pretty spot and was the focal point of one of our Christmas cards several years ago. Then went over to Place Dauphine to see if we could have dinner at La Rose de France. Ate there a couple of times a few years ago and I read they have a new chef. It was full, but the waiter said he'd have an outdoor table for us in 15 minutes so we sat in the park and watched the groups playing boules. Got our table in about 20 minutes & started with kirs and biere for Ant. We all had the menu but Greer, Ant & I did the entree, plat & coffee and Peter did the plat, dessert & coffee (lucky me, I got two espressos). I had the gazpacho with balsamic vinegar sorbet & lamb chops with thyme sauce and ratatouille; all of which were very good. Greer had escargot (best I've tasted so far) and salmon with rice. Ant had onion soup and rump steak poivre. Guess what?  Peter had a hamburger with cheese & bacon followed by creme brulee. Then walked back along the Seine and watched the Eiffel Tower twinkle at 11. Starting to feel pretty worn out and don't know if it's the trip or the fact that I somehow mamaged to forget my thyroid pills-- and the lack of them may be catching up with me.

This morning (it's now Tues) Greer, Anthony & I went to the Musee d'Orsay along with 20,0000 or so others as it was raining and thundering -  so a perfect museum day. By the time we came out, so had the sun and it's now pretty humid. Stopped to pick up some sandwiches to share & they're now all taking a nap, but may wake them up soon or they will miss what they want to see as everything will be closed. Greer & Anthony got up early so they could get into Notre Dame when it opened at 8 - the lines to get in stretch on forever by about 10 am and are still there at closing time of 7:15.
