Got up a little late as Greer & Ant were tired & jet lagged a bit. Started out on the Metro to the Arc de Triomphe and then strolled slowly down the Champs-Elysees. Went into Peugot & Mercedes to look at some amazing cars & then stopped at Bistro Romaine for lunch (very late one as it was about 4). I had risotto with prawns & scallops- the prawns were very strange, soft & the texture of undercooked chicken liver. Good but very different. Peter had a hamburger with sauteed mushrooms & cheese. Greer had a charcuterie plate with goat cheese and then carpaccio & fries. The plate of carpaccio was like a platter that was covered with the sliced beef-pretty enormous! Ant had a chicken caesar salad and sauteed prawns and scallops. We continued to walk down the Champs to Ave Winston Churchill and then went over to the Seine & Pont Alexander III. Walked from there to Place de la Concord. It is full of reviewing stands set up in preparation for Bastille Day and there are several others set up on the east end of the Champs. Took the Metro home from there & then Greer & Ant went out to find some night life (Oh to have the stamina of a 40 year old again!) I was feeling kind of off & finally realized it was slight vertigo so took a pill and after a while felt better so we went out for a sucre citron crepe about 11. Walked around the East end of the island until midnight- several street entertainers still in front of Notre Dame with crowds watching. Greer & Ant got back shortly after we did; they found a spot for dinner & then a pub with a caveau and live music so they were quite happy.
Today was the first totally overcast day- never saw the sun at all. It was very windy & chilly at times but I much prefer that to the heat when walking around. Made a reservation for dinner to celebrate Greer's birthday at Auberge Nicholas Flamel, a very nice restaurant in the oldest house in Paris. We ate there last time & I took a picture of the chef so I brought a copy to give him. We have to celebrate the night before her birthday as most of the good restaurants are closed on the 14th.
I apologize for no pictures- without Gary's computer I can't post them & haven't had time to try with Greers. Will definately add lots once we get home &, unfortunately, that day is fast approaching.
